The advantage of herbal medicine over other medicines is that one can take herbal medicine as a  part of their food and there is no need for prescription, where as the artificial medicine requires prescription, otherwise we may get side-effects. Hence herbal medicine is often called as garden medicine.

Ayurveda is the wing of herbal medicine that is in practice in Indian subcontinent. Chinese have their own system of herbal medicine. Usually, from place to place the biological features of man will vary say colour, immunity power etc.., and hence each country follow their own system of medicine.

Most of the medicines will be in powder form, tablets and tonic constitute the remaining.

Amla is also called as Amritphala and Indian Gooseberry. It is an herbal fruit in light green color. It belongs to the citric family and have rich acid content. The acid content will decrease with the life time of the fruit. It is cheap and widely used in south Asia. It acts as a preservative.
